tanya_plibersek Perhaps you should apply the same metric to the current members of your political party - then you can all line up at the dole office!

tanya_plibersek Mary_AnneHolden Tanya, I was speaking to a friend of mine. He has a radio program of what in the past was 3UZ and now is Radio RSN. His program is 'The Family Counsellor Program' I often phone him and my friend is v. impressed with you on the news!X

tanya_plibersek Labor continue to dumb down their own candidates by only accepting ex unionists into the Labor Party.

tanya_plibersek You are SO out of touch with the way Education and Teaching works and contribute to this culture of teacher bashing instead of delving more deeply into what would lift educational standards.

tanya_plibersek Labor had six years (2 terms) in Government (2007 to 2013) to fix the problem, but what did they actually do? The lowered ATAR score for University Entrants to do a teaching degree, & wasted billions of dollars on the BER! Labor cannot be trusted to fix the Education crisis!!

tanya_plibersek to improve teaching allow for innovation and creativity. small class sizes and less bureaucracy. let the teachers focus on teaching and administration

tanya_plibersek Spot on Tania. Teachers are under valued too,. We Need to find ways to attract best and brightest, including wages and conditions.

tanya_plibersek Hard to get the best and brightest when you are teaching safe schools 💩....... you are creating a generation of nuff nuffs

tanya_plibersek Quick question Tanya - who uncapped uni places to begin with?

tanya_plibersek The best and brightest will not choose teaching as a profession when they have to work contracts for years, mine ridiclous amounts of data, dont have comparative pay to other professions and the system does not allow for any autonomy in the classroom.

tanya_plibersek You’re wrong Tanya. Intelligent people don’t make the best teachers. Committed teachers, who love their job and love working with kids, make the best teachers. ATAR doesn’t rate someone’s passion or commitment to teaching.

tanya_plibersek Tanya, you gave $18m unaccounted to union bosses. I'd wager if you have that kind of money to the teachers, you know people bringing up our kids instead of punching women, you'd get the pick of the litter in teaching

tanya_plibersek I hope this isn't going to be a teacher 'bashing' exercise' their lives are difficult enough with attacks on Public Education auspol

tanya_plibersek Where is the evidence degrees are being dumbed down? Entry levels may be 'low', but undergraduates still have to complete the course

LesStonehouse tanya_plibersek A good start would be to make the profession attractive enough to attract the right people.

tanya_plibersek If only we could apply the same standard to politicians and journalists!

tanya_plibersek Absolutely agree with this

tanya_plibersek We enroll incompetent people into parliament, maybe we should stop that first.

tanya_plibersek We can't have plebs teaching kids how to be ... plebs , can we ? 😣 educ8tion auspol Labor

tanya_plibersek Funny this coming from Lablie, when universities are breeding grounds for their socialist union buddies

tanya_plibersek Tanya don't do irony does she?

tanya_plibersek Hello, this was a mess of Rudd and Gillards making, i thought you were in that government. Maybe they should spend less time on socialist propoganda and more on education, that would be a good start.

tanya_plibersek At the same time, teachers are being treated as more expendable. I've heard from teaching graduates that it's getting less and less stable as a form of employment (see: gig economy). How are you gonna get the best and the brightest when it's not that good a job anymore?

tanya_plibersek Mary_AnneHolden Tanya, I think the world of you and your passion towards students and their careers!XX

tanya_plibersek To entice the higher achievers, you need higher incentives such as higher pay. How will you fund this higher pay?

tanya_plibersek Didn’t labor uncap university places? Now they have an issue with dullards getting degrees? FFS they are hopeless

tanya_plibersek I think our teachers need all the support in the world. I’m not convinced that the current system is wrong

Absurd_Penguin tanya_plibersek Teaching needs to be more highly valued and better paid so it's not a default choice for those who can't get into anything else.

tanya_plibersek Start talking about paying teachers more and you might have a valid point

tanya_plibersek I remember my high school maths teaching explaining he got into teaching in the 70’s because it was all paid for, they were pushing teaching degrees to fill positions onto anyone and everyone. He was a good teacher and enjoyed it but certainly wasn’t his first pick or passion.

tanya_plibersek Finally something sensible from Labor with respect to improving education. Bet the teachers' union doesn't like this. But good on you Tanya.

tanya_plibersek Also need to reward good teachers. At present the difference in pay between am exceptional teacher and an average one is few thousand dollars hardly an incentive to strive for excellence.

tanya_plibersek Labor finally coming up with a policy that makes sense? Something is up 🤔

tanya_plibersek How about we address that no matter how good the teacher - teaching a disjointed, inept & mostly irrelevant curriculum means we're setting our kids up to fail our kids either way? No focus on building logic, creativity or gaining relevant life skills = useless learning.

tanya_plibersek Dear Tanya, this won't achieve much at all. The 'best and brightest' will still keep choosing medicine and law until teaching salaries rise and/or teachers are trusted to do their jobs without unnecessary meddling from politicians.

tanya_plibersek Fine plan, ALP. Those arguing against it are saying that it takes commitment & drive, & it’s not about an ATAR. My response is it’s not an either/or situation. The best teachers have drive & commitment AND are from the brightest among us. Our children deserve the best

tanya_plibersek Teaching Marxist propaganda to kids dumbs down the nation.

tanya_plibersek Do the same with all parts of the medical profession too!

KikiTheRed tanya_plibersek ALP policy version of building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants.

tanya_plibersek I saw this interview and i understand where Tanya is coming from but from a teacher's view it takes more than academic levels to be a very good teacher It takes a special drive, passion with a desire to improve each lesson, each class. Support is also needed

tanya_plibersek I think it would be more effective to pay teachers more, value the work they do by giving them enough resources - and allowing them the time to plan and develop their lessons.

tanya_plibersek ‘We cannot afford to continually dumb down the pre-selection process to elect people who will never be competent politicians.’ FIFY

tanya_plibersek Labor ... turning specialist into Labourer for decades ...

tanya_plibersek The unions have dumbed down the teachers ... take it up with them ... but of course you won’t because you need their support, but the dumbing down of the Labor Party has already occurred when Tanya is the best person to lead Labor while Shorten is away working on his man boobs!!!

tanya_plibersek This will only reduce the number of teachers. Increasing the cut off's will NOT encourage the 'brightest' into teaching. I bet Tanya has not spoken to an actual teacher about this. Ask teachers what WE need! Speak to us and ask OUR opinion. This will NOT solve the issues

tanya_plibersek Contradicting yourself yet again. What are you doing when you set gender quotas?

tanya_plibersek Too late! And the teachers' union just wants more money.

LesStonehouse tanya_plibersek Lots of ‘what about the farmers?’ type comments here.

LesStonehouse tanya_plibersek Tanya, you need to stop with this ‘dumbing down’ garbage. You’re over-cooking it. The truth is, when a person enters a teaching degree, nobody can predict whether they’ll be a competent teacher. Stop pandering to poorly informed.

tanya_plibersek I thought Labor policy was to uncap university places?

tanya_plibersek Improving the country by diversity 🤔

tanya_plibersek Why is only teaching the only profession where 'Passionate' is a term always applied. Shouldn't nurses, police, firepeople, clerks, doctors etc all be passionate? Why only teachers?

LesStonehouse tanya_plibersek I mentioned earlier that our children are the future. So we entrust their education to those who we value the least; in a fundamental societal quadrant that we grossly underfund & continually tear down & attack, so that the greedy of us can live even greedier fat lives now.

tanya_plibersek Oh dumbed down Tanya has finally woken up.

tanya_plibersek Turning all little kids into SOCIALIST soldiers.

tanya_plibersek I would believe you if politics wasn't the real underlying agenda here. Stop indoctrinating our children to your toxic brand.

tanya_plibersek That must be qualification you hold...

tanya_plibersek Interesting that labor wants to mandate gender quotas for the parliament but not for the teaching profession. If only 30 per cent of (the best) students get in, how do you ensure that 50 per cent of them are female?

tanya_plibersek Sounds great, but it goes against everything Labor has stood for for a generation. Need more proof before I believe this new line.

tanya_plibersek Why not? Every other university qualification is dumbed down. Why not teaching as well?

tanya_plibersek Pay teachers more and you’ll get more

tanya_plibersek Isn't her shit head husband the boss of education?

tanya_plibersek Yes! Start bringing teaching standards up to that of other important, professional roles of information and learning. Find the ones that are letting the kids down. I guarantee a cursory search will result in a solid cull that should've happened long ago.

tanya_plibersek Yes merit is good! Might make more sense if you didn’t advocate for gender quotas.

tanya_plibersek Dumbing down Seems to be working for ALP politicians and their voters/supporters

tanya_plibersek Your side started the slide you lying hypocritical opportunistic puker. Why isn’t anyone bothering to challenge this 🐂💩?!?

tanya_plibersek God what ever happened to the education revolution. courtesy of your policy.

tanya_plibersek But if you hold people to a higher standard that may not fit in with your ‘quota system’. Sounds two faced to me.

tanya_plibersek Do you support Domestic Violence like you union mate and billshortenmp does?
