Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn issued a statement Wednesday confirming a revelation in a new book by Benedict’s personal secretary, Archbishop Georg Gaenswein, that was published soon after Benedict died Dec. 31 at age 95.
The book, “Nothing But the Truth: My Life Beside Pope Benedict XVI,” already has generated controversy, because itthat simmered during the decade in which Benedict lived as an emeritus pope alongside Pope Francis. Schoenborn said the publication of the book was an “unseemly indiscretion” and distanced himself from it. The statement on the archdiocesan website quoted him as saying: “I don’t think it’s right that such confidential things are published, especially by the personal secretary.”But Schoenborn nevertheless confirmed one of the less controversial chapters in the book, surrounding the election of the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as pope in 2005, following the death of St. John Paul II.
You know what else is unseemly? Child molestation and protecting such fiends from the law.
You know what's fucking 'unseemly'...historical and modern constant child molestation and pedophilia by the fucking Catholic church. That's what's unseemly ....deal with that you perverts.
Maybe protecting child rapists is what’s unseemly. 🤷🏻♂️
Oh wow we were all wondering who wrote this letter from 18 years ago that no one had ever heard of. Good report.
Still having a tough time recognizing how you go from Benedict to Frances. Did the majority of the College of Cardinals die and get replaced in between?
thejasonkirk since you host the only Bible podcast, is there anything about Pride in that book?
Plenty of things about how the church operates can be classified as 'unseemly'
