The schools have been issuing alerts about their recent actions to block access to the application in compliance with a directive issued last month by Gov. Greg Abbott. The mobile application allows users to scroll — often mindlessly — through videos up to three minutes long, from news to comedic sketches to tutorials of all kinds. The more content users like and follow, the more precisely it targets their preferences., issued Dec. 7, ordered all state agencies to prevent access to TikTok — downloading or using it — on any government-issued device.
