“Think about what you typically see when you drive around Houston and a construction site. It’s like steel and concrete,” Leaver said. “This is the opposite.” The materials were overwhelming, said Forney superintendent Alex Moore, with 100s of beams and wooden panels delivered on 22 truck loads. Lebena Varghese, a resident assistant and Rice researcher, said she’s still setting up her suite but could see herself hosting future study breaks. Her suite has lofted ceilings, a bedroom, an office and a kitchen – and it’s almost double the size of her suite in the former building.
