The 63,000-square-foot field house, for which $60 million has been earmarked for construction, will be built in what is now the parking lot off the portion of South Belvoir Boulevard that extends through the campus, across from Hamlin Hall. “Our vernacular -- the Athletic Wellness & Event Center -- is mainly internal jargon for us ,” Swetel said to City Council Tuesday.

In addition to athletics, Swetel said the field house, which will take about 18 months to construct, will be made available to the JCU academic team to host a variety of classes, speakers or career days for students.
