Trustees at the Ottawa\u002DCarleton District School Board have recommended hiring a Jewish equity coach to help combat rising antisemitism in schools.

Jewish organizations, parents and students have been warning the school board that the rise in antisemitism around the world is being reflected in schools and urging action. Two students at Sir Robert Borden High School have been charged with hate-related offences in connection with an incident on Dec. 1 during which two Jewish students were allegedly shown a swastika and subjected to a Nazi salute.

School officials had failed to warn his family in advance as promised before the two students accused in the incident returned to school after being suspended, said Baker.
