Police won’t be pursuing charges against a teenager arrested after someone deployed bear spray at a Burnaby SkyTrain station.
Emergency crews were called to a report of a pepper-spraying at the Production Way-University station just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an emailed statement from Metro Vancouver Transit Police. At the scene, “several passengers suffering from the effects of the bear spray” were treated by firefighters and paramedics, according to the statement.Since the incident took place at the station entrance, there was no disruption to SkyTrain service, according to police.
A suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was arrested a short distance away and transported home to his guardian by police, but the victims “have declined to participate in the court process,” so Transit Police said it won’t be pursuing charges.
