'Cold weather can be dealt with, but warm hearts are rare,' former MUN international student Oishi Saleque writes in this love letter to St. John's and the province.

"It's not too cold, just the wind; it will pass through you."

This continues for a while, and I finally figure out that's just how it is here. Everyone greets everyone; whether you know each other or not, you must greet and wish them a good day. I have never experienced such warmth in my life. We barely even greet our family every day, let alone talk to people we don't know.

So, we did. We bought one of those kites that looked like an eagle and took it to a park to fly. It was all going well until it got stuck in a tree! I thought I'd never be able to get it down, not that I was crying over a lost kite, but I didn't want to pollute the environment."Yes, the string is tangled with branches, and we don't know what to do!"A lady saw us; she was with her family, her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and a cute little grandson.
