Those who oppose commonsense gun regulations do not represent me or most of the responsible gun owners I know. When I applied for a weapon and walked out of the store with a gun the very same day, I knew something was not right. Purchasing a deadly weapon should not be so easy.

Greg Abbott has won reelection and Republicans have held control of the Texas Legislature, we need them to hold true on promises to tackle violent crime withAs a teacher and a mother to two young children — one of whom attends my school — I am exhausted from fearing school shootings. I am exhausted from years of inaction on gun violence. I am heartbroken, and I have had enough.
Tackling gun violence — and, therefore, violent crime — means ensuring that guns don’t end up in the hands of dangerous individuals. We have the tools to do this. Gun violence is just violence. Leave the gun out of this... Uneducated and reckless gun owners are the issue, not our Second Amendment right. You can't keep giving away rights for safety. At some point you will get forced to deal with a different form of violence.
