primary school took part in a festive 'Walking Bus' to school last week as part of their campaign to encourage active travel.
During the Christmas period this has continued with the school opening a new eco-friendly bike shelter encouraging pupils to 'bling their bike to school' where they decorate their bikes or scooters for Christmas.On Friday, December 9, this campaign ended with a large Walking Bus from Cherryvale Playing Fields where the children were joined by their parents, staff and local MLA Kate Nicholl as they sang Christmas carols all the way to school.
"On arrival to school the celebrations and festivities continued with the children being treated to a healthy snack along with some hot chocolate, to warm up any cold hands, while their parents' enjoyed scones, shortbread, tea, coffee and a welcomed catch up with other parents and staff. "For a number of years, they have been very active participants of the Sustrans Active School Travel Programme, they have achieved their bronze and silver award for active travel and are currently working towards the gold award.
