One of four students shot outside Benito Juarez Community Academy high school on the city’s Southwest Side Friday afternoon has died, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The shooting happened outside the school, 2150 S. Laflin St., on school property, according to Larry Langford, a Fire Department spokesperson.All four victims were students, though it’s not clear from which school, according to Langford, who said they were all about 16, including the boy who died. Another boy about 16 was seriously injured and suffered “traumatic arrest,” while a girl was shot in the shoulder or leg and another boy had gunshot injuries that were not thought to be life threatening, Langford added.Chicago Police Department spokesperson Tom Ahern said at about 3:30 p.m. that the school announced an “all clear” after the shooting.
