The Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, welcomed on Thursday the removal of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sanusi Mamman, and its Pro-Chancellor, Mu’uta Ibrahim.
The government also directed that relevant laws establishing the university should be reviewed so that “they could stand the test of time,” adding that relevant civil service rules concerning the university should also be looked into. Ruwangodiya explained that the government’s decision followed the adoption of the recommendations of the white paper drafting committee on the Visitation Panel that investigated the activities of the university.
The government assured that efforts would be made to ensure that a new vice chancellor was appointed for the university in good time.
