The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is gaining some ground in an uphill battle to fill staff vacancies.
A report the school board will see tonight says that between September and November the system experienced over 1,800 more staff vacancies than in the same period last year. Currently just under 200 staff members are on various forms of leave with only 60% of available jobs being filled on any given day.
However the board’s Human Resources Support Services department has launched an aggressive recruitment program which has led to over 400 more absences being filled between September and November than in 2021. Recruiting staff have attended a recent Quinte Career Fair and in the new year will be at two education job fairs, at Queen’s and Trent universities.
Totally didn't see this coming. Underfunded by every political party, vilified by the ignorant, affected more than most of us by the half-assed pandemic measures.
