Dept considering suspension of teacher career breaksAn incorporeal Cabinet meeting has been held to try to find ways to address the shortage of teachers. The meeting heard that the suspension of non-statutory leave arrangements, such as career breaks, is being considered by the Department of Education to try to plug the gaps in schools. Maybe all the TDs who were teachers could lead by example on this and return to the classroom... So the plan to fill the gap is to take away benefits from the current teachers? That'll go down well...

Gary Gannon: Government must act immediately to address teacher shortagesOpinion: Gary Gannon says the teacher shortage has reached crisis point - he will table proposed solutions tomorrow... Something needs to be done, more than act. We had enough acting out of these corrupt showers. Gov and immediately don't go in the same sentence anyway, they normally wait for someone to die. WhitmoreJen Would be interested in retraining but can't afford to take 2 years out with little to no income. Unless the conditions are attractive, forget it.

Career breaks for teachers may be suspended in response to staff shortagesTeachers' union says it is 'completely unacceptable' that Govt is considering the suspension of career breaks for teachers without consulting unions. Entitled much? 🤔 Ah of course.. The best way to fix staff shortages. Piss teachers off further. Maybe they could try fixing pay disparity, dropping the yearly fee for the teaching council and actually building schools that are fit for purpose and not 70% prefabs? Oops unions feeling left out again.
