The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday said it will take up the legality of President Joe Biden's student loan debt relief plan in expedited oral arguments scheduled for February. If Biden gave people $10k for student loans, they'd be taxed about $950 on that $10k and the government has still made a ton of money off interest with those loans. Our government has wasted money on far worse things than it's own people.
If they declare it legal, we can do away with Congress and save some real money.

other issue missed this is for schools that used the right to offer financial aid and marketed to those who they could prey upon. Many of these so called colleges should've never had the right to offer financial aid.This mess was created by the DOE and the title 4 requirements
point being missed many people who use financial aid were never educated on how it works. You're told fill out a FASFA to pay for college. There's no mandated class you must take prior to using student loans that can educate you on how it works that's the issue to me
Funny my education was worth it to me to pay back. If you don't feel your education is worth it neither do I. Pay your own way. Give that money to our veterans who paid your way for freedom
What about single parents that work hard and kill themselves to pay their kids college? Yeah they don't get anything.

Even in the Bible we see debt forgiveness in the year of Jubilee, a debtors debts were forgiven.
It's not the loan.....but the INTREST!!! I paid mine off and my husband paid his off. But we see how predatory universities can be in offering loans....it truly is a scam.
Its funny, we pay tax dollars for public schools WHETHER OR NOT our kids go to public schools and people are having a fit about helping someone pay for further education. Not going to college was a huge mistake...I don't mind helping someone from making my same mistake!

Since 1971 the government steals the value of your compensation by raising the debt ceiling. Not only are we taxed to death, then they want to steak half the loaf they just paid you.

The opportunity to try to better yourself was and is open to everybody. The forgiveness offered by President Biden wasn't a pre-planned move. It was an executive decision designed to better this country as a whole. We must dispense with the myopia that seem to grip Repubs.

Our daughter graduated with a nursing degree from a 4 year university DEBT FREE. Not sure why I should be paying someone elses college loan debt with my taxes.
No one has to go to college. No, I don't care if the job you WANT requires a college degree, it is a job you WANT, not one that you must have. That job is your desire and not everyone else's problem. If you want that job, you can pay your student loan.

Whenever I see these responses I wonder how old you are. My first year of college cost $1500.00 and there were tons of scholarships and grant money. No one HAD to take our a loan. Our kid's tuition was 50K.

A loan = A *personal* obligation to pay said loan back - not other people who chose not to. People don't get a pass on home mortgages when they execute an agreement with a financial institution/individual(s) when it becomes'too much' for them to handle and manage each month...
