Members of the UAB Marching Band perform at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. The UAB Marching Blazers band won’t be traveling with the UAB football team to the Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 16, due to budget limitations, the university has announced.
The decision has angered some band members and parents, who say they were told to apply for expedited passports, then told they weren’t going.“We are excited about our invitation to the 2022 Bahamas Bowl and are proud of all of our student athletes, coaches and other supporters who contributed to the Blazers’ sixth consecutive bowl appearance.

MarchingBlazers UAB_FB TheBahamasBowl Speaking from personal experience... my wife and I have attended the last 26 consecutive UAB football games, but we will also be missing the Bahamas Bowl because we just don't have anywhere close to the amount of money required for a trip like that. The cost is outrageous.
MarchingBlazers UAB_FB TheBahamasBowl Hey HTLenders TaxAct PrincessCruises SERVPRO think y’all can pitch in and help these kids out? I can’t imagine it won’t make the Bowl Game you sponsor a better experience.
MarchingBlazers UAB_FB TheBahamasBowl Nope. This is not a reasonable decision to be made regarding a public university in the State of Alabama. If we can pay one coach $9 million a year to do his job, and can pay TWO other coaches to NOT do their jobs (AU), then we can scrape together plane fare for UAB musicians.
MarchingBlazers UAB_FB TheBahamasBowl U hate to see it. Maybe the band needs to go a little old school with those symphony chocolate bar fundraisers.
MarchingBlazers UAB_FB TheBahamasBowl Booooooo…
