He seems to be suggesting that CUPE workers such as educational assistants who may make a little more than $39,000 a year are making a living wage and may not deserve more than a 1.5-per-cent raise given they work only 194 days a year. At the same time, he seems to have no issue paying our politicians in Ontario about $143,000 a year, with cabinet members at $165,000 a year. Politicians, who in Ontario in 2019 and 2020, took two full months of winter breaks and on average took two full months of summer breaks, not counting statutory holidays, etc. That’s at least four months of breaks, not counting holidays, etc. That’s like an eight-month-a-year, part-time job.

As far as I know, job postings haven’t changed in some time. It’s understood by the employer and by the applicant that the remuneration to the employee is for the completion of the duties of the job. Nowhere does it say you get extra if you have a wife, children, dog, a mortgage and a car loan.
