Serra led 43-0 at halftime, will now host Salinas high school in a CCS D-I playoff semifinal.

Serra’s defense was just as stellar as its offense, with the unit holding Palma to 21 yards from scrimmage during the first 24 minutes. Linebacker Marley Alapati, along with linebacking mates Jabari Mann and Danny Niu, were rarely fooled by Palma’s presnap motions and fakes.

The entire second half was played with a running clock, and Serra’s starters actually departed a few minutes before halftime. “Salinas is a really good team, and they’ve got a number of good players,” Carnazzo said. “But Serra … they’re on a whole other level.”in The Pit on Friday. But the Padres would be foolish to overlook the talented Cowboys.
