Ontario's labour relations board says the provincial government has withdrawn its application to have a walkout by 55,000 education workers declared illegal.

·The Ontario government has withdrawn its application to have a walkout by some 55,000 education workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees illegal, the province's labour relations board says. The workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees walked off the job last Friday after the government passed legislation that imposed a contract and banned a strike.

On Monday, Premier Doug Ford promised to rescind the legislation if the workers ended their job action, and CUPE said employees would be back at work the next day.The Ontario Labour Relations Board says government lawyers told the board on Wednesday that they were withdrawing the province's application, and CUPE's legal counsel consented to the withdrawal. The labour board had heard the case during a marathon weekend session.

Government lawyers had asked the board to declare the CUPE walkout "illegal" and actions by union leaders "unlawful," while CUPE lawyers had argued that the job action was a "legitimate political protest." The government's law, which used the notwithstanding clause to guard against constitutional challenges, had set fines for violating the legislation at a maximum of $4,000 per employee per day and up to $500,000 per day for the union.

A spokeswoman for Ford has said new legislation to repeal the education-worker bill will be introduced on Monday.

I recently lost my position as a supervisor at work after refusing to work on Sunday. Where can I seek for help?

That means they were informed they would lose the case. It’s the way it works at the Board.

Lets not forget that ford deliberately made it illegal for 55,000 education workers to strike, taking away their labour RIGHTS, because it suited HIS purposes.

The government however will remain corrupt and stone deaf.

teach_n_travel No surprise

He lost. He is now pretending it didn’t happen. Man-Baby.

Good news for all Ontario workers. ThugFord

Once again, unions are running Ontario. Ford just another union puppet.

What a waste of our money.

good....

The bullies got faced down by union power.

fordnation YOU ARE WEF SCUM

Now do your job and get those shelves filled with childrens meds....Mr. Ontario is open for business...

Solidarity forever! That's freedom!

Game,set and match....

We can only hope Doug Ford is not foolish enough to ever do it again!

Ontario, the other Alberta 🤠🤠🤠🤡🤡🤡🏒

Ford is a conservative premier. He was elected because Ontario voters are worried about the debt and financial sustainability, not about how much union workers get paid.

Less work but more plastic breasts..

Ontario set to repeal Bill 28 on Monday as talks continue with CUPE school support staffThe Ford government will introduce new legislation to rescind Bill 28, the Keeping Students in Class Act. It is expected to receive unanimous consent from all parties to push it through. Curious how they could ram through the bill in less than 5 days...but now take their time to repeal...They could've repealed it the next day Yes they could. It shows their interest in their positions. I think it's called poor losers. But I don't trust either one of them ! Calculating scum ! Conservatives in Canada are OUTRAGED over the use of the Emergencies Act to clear the convoy, but are perfectly ok with Doug Ford using the Notwithstanding Clause to overrule people's rights?
