High school football playoffs: New Braunfels stuns Reagan

New Braunfels quarterback Clayton Namkin looks to run Friday night, Nov. 11, 2022 at Comalander Stadium during the first half of the Unicorns’ game against the Reagan Rattlers.SAN ANTONIO — With its starting quarterback in the hospital, New Braunfels pulled off a stunning 17-13 victory against Reagan in a Class 6A Division I first-round playoff game Friday at Comalander Stadium.

New Braunfels ISD athletic director Jim Streety said Friday that Adams was in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Unicorns coach Glenn Mangold said Adams’ condition had improved Friday. The Unicorns took advantage of another short field after a blocked punt put them on the Rattlers’ 4. Johnson scored from 1-yard out to make it 12-0 with 5:31 left in the second.
