Less than 60 years ago Lancaster was a quiet mill town. Now, with a population almost double that of just a century ago, there is no doubt that the establishment of Lancaster University in 1964 heralded a massive change for what is now a city.

"Most of these would be entirely unsuitable for residential buildings as there's almost zero parking allowance.
Phil also highlighted the 'slow but inevitable process' whereby older student houses, often in traditional residential areas of the city, are reverted back to typical housing thanks to the development of new student accommodation. And, from a commercial perspective, 'Lancaster would be a dramatically poorer city without the ever increasing numbers of students'.
