But his work ethic – for which he is famous – came from working in abattoirs and mines to stay financially afloat while studying.Graduating with a degree in geography from James Cook University, Professor Coaldrake forged an entirely new academic field in political geography while writing his honours thesis, which was continued in a PhD.
