Temporary principal appointed after mass work refusals at Toronto school

"This school needs stable leadership. Every school needs stable leadership. The lifeblood of the school is the principal," TDSB spokesperson Shari Schwartz-Maltz said.Schwartz-Maltz said she could not disclose why the current principal and other staff were absent. She added that on Wednesday, there were 13 "unfilled" jobs at the school, located near Keele Street and Rogers Road.

On Tuesday, CTV Toronto obtained a letter from the acting principal informing parents and guardians that 13 staff members had initiated a work refusal process. Several students at the school told CTV News that there was a fight at the school on Friday, and it was one of several incidents that had occurred since the school year started.

When asked about a private security guard being posted at the school, Lennon said it is a temporary measure.

Colossal fail by the board of Ed combining these schools. Different ‘cultures’ obviously nothing to do with race or ethnicity! Elephant in the room?

Teachers can not be expected to wade into gang fights in the building putting themselves at risk of injury or worse.

This is what happens when you ban the SRO program because black students don’t like being around police. When you ban suspensions because too many black students were getting suspended. I wonder who the students are making the school unsafe for staff.

Gotta love this.... The teachers stopped going to work at the school yet the kids are still there....wow!!

Perhaps if schools and teachers had more actual authority in a classroom things would be better

Sure...let them go!! If they don't need a job! But was OK 2 years no work but they got paid?
