Ontario is set to table legislation on Monday that will prevent education workers from striking at the end of the week, but their union says it’s ready to push back.

In response, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce said he would introduce back-to-work legislation.CUPE, representing education workers such as administration staff, librarians, early childhood educators and custodians, is sitting on one side of the bargaining table while the ministry of education is perched on the other.between CUPE and the government is salary.

Their recent offer, which they put on the table on Sunday, was up from the two per cent annual increase for workers who make less than $40,000 and a 1.25 per cent raise for the rest of the workforce that they originally put forward.On Sunday afternoon, an emergency mediated session between CUPE and the ministry of education was called after the union announced they would strike on Friday if a deal is not reached with the province.

they're falling behind the cost of living, like most working ppl, but they are unionized and can bargain for a raise.

Even when they're in school they're usually out protesting climate and hurt feelings.

So they can sit at home and not be paid. Smart!!!!

Because they know parents are desperate to have their kids in school and they're taking advantage of it, holding kids hostage.

Chads Ford and Lecce gonna stop them. Sorry, but we students deserve normalcy for once. 11% increase is insanity, but 1% increase is insulting. Meet in the middle for 5-7%, and that would be good.
