A look at this weekend’s top high school games in the San Antonio area.

Smithson Valley formerly shared a district with area 6A stalwarts Steele and Judson before dropping to Class 5A as the opening of Pieper and Davenport in Comal ISD shifted enrollments.On Oct. 12, the UIL state executive committee ruled 11 freshman football players who transferred to San Marcos ineligible to compete in varsity athletics at that school for three years. They still can compete for their original schools.

Further complicating things is that Judson had to forfeit a 44-0 victory over East Central for using an ineligible player. Given how tight the race is going to be, that could be big.
