The Girls Scouts Heart of New Jersey council said it had received the gift from Scott, the novelist and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and would channel the money to a mobile STEM classroom and facility in Newark.

, a regional council for Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Somerset, Union, Warren and Middlesex counties.

“We are truly grateful to MacKenzie Scott for this generous, transformational gift that will be used to uplift so many girls in our local communities,” said the council’s chief executive officer Natasha Hemmings.

Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey’s $1.8 million gift was among 29 donations to individual scout councils selected by Scott nationwide, totaling $84.5 million.

Girl Scouts is corrupt. My daughters troop works hard to sell cookies. Each box they only keep roughly 75 cents. They bank on that money to fund their activities for the year. Then they are told to donate 1/2 of what they get. Girls Scouts provides no funding help for the troops
