We can't change the past. Fullstop. We can learn from it, however, so 'adult' thing to do is leave statues etc where they are as a reminder of past mistakes, & try to change the future for the better.

The question is how far should we go in correcting the past? Is removing objects, which I have no objection, the only cure for the wrongs of the past? How should those whose lands, wealths & dignities were usurped be compensated? (2/2).
As a historian & human rights activist I find myself conflicted about this kind of “cleansing”. First of all, I am totally against hero worshipping of any kind. Free ctizens don’t need this infantile behaviour. My concern is how far should we go in cleansing the past? (1)

Yeah when I first found out about Gandhi's racism I was dissappointed but not that surprised. Appreciating his civil disobedience does not mean he should be celebrated this way. Take it down.
I had no idea- but still believe we learned a great deal on how civil disobedience can work and change things for the better from him
It’s their statue. It’s their choice.
