Dallas school trustees on Thursday denied a former district auditor’s request to be reinstated.

Andrea Whelan’s lawyer argued that she was fired because she reported alleged grade-changing and attendance manipulation to the state education agency. District administrators denied this.

Five trustees voted to uphold her termination during a roughly 45 minute hearing, as first reported byThe attorney representing the district said it was Whelan’s poor job performance – and not any whistleblowing to the Texas Education Agency – that was behind the decision to fire her. What Whelan flagged as grade-changing was a school principal helping students with credit recovery amid ongoing pandemic disruptions, Long said.Her lawyer Austin Campbell said that trustees made the wrong decision, but it was unclear what other options they’ll explore.
