The Bears will come to McMahon Stadium riding high after picking up their first win of the young season last weekend, which was a convincing 34-11 win over the Manitoba Bisons. After falling behind 32-9 to the Rams in Week 2, the Dinos put together their best quarter of the season to score 15 unanswered points against the Rams in the fourth quarter. They came inches away from evening up the game on a last-second heave from Daniel Sananes, which ended up being picked off by the Rams. Gob Deng and Ben Britton both had strong games to spark Calgary’s aerial attack, finishing with a combined 11 receptions for 154 yards.
The last time the Dinos faced the Thunderbirds was back in 2021 at Wright Field, as part of the 2021 Canada West tournament series during which the Dinos dropped a 3-0 decision in their closest game of the 2021 season. The Fraser Valley Cascades come to campus for a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m. Then, on Sunday, the Dinos will square off against 10th-ranked UBC at 2:15 p.m.
