The university said it is ­taking steps to minimize the impact, including hiring in only critical or high-priority positions in the short term and looking for areas to reduce other expenses. No specific figures were available, but UVic has reported a slight decline in both domestic and international students.She said the students’ society has been telling the university that fee jumps for international students are too steep. Lack of housing for international ­students and others is also an issue, Adachi said.

For 2022-23, UVic’s domestic tuition fee for most arts and sciences programs is $6,045. For international students, the fee is $27,836.

Quality of Education is lower than expected. Bound to happen.

Because the vast majority of international students are not attending public-funded colleges/universities, but private colleges/universities. The reason that most of the schools are money for papers type of business.

It could be to the recent news articles saying that 1/2 of folk with Arts degrees regret it later. My understanding is UVic is heavy (overweight?) to the Arts.

Of course, the school is a tool for students targeting immigration. if the system is not working and the future is uncertain, students will want to invest in other countries.
