Superintendent of Fort Worth Independent School District, Kent Scribner, answers a question from CEO of the Texas Tribune, Evan Smith, on Thursday, March, 24, 2022 in Dallas. Scribner, along with other North Texas superintendents, shared about the challenges facing educators and schools. In January 2022, Scribner announced his intent to retire.
Scribner announced he intended to retire when his contract ran out in August 2024. In March, he and the board announced he would step down this year instead. Texas law requires districts to wait 21-days after naming a finalist before officially hiring a new superintendent.
