A report by Corruption Watch sounds the alarm on the misappropriation of resources, maladministration and the abuse of authority in South African schools, TVET colleges and sector education and training authorities (Setas).

JOHANNESBURG - The flouting of procedure and the soliciting of bribes have featured prominently in South Africa’s education sector.Complaints from over 3,600 pupils, students, parents and guardians between 2012 and 2021 have been collated in the report.

The report sounds the alarm on the misappropriation of resources, maladministration and the abuse of authority in South African schools, TVET colleges and sector education and training authorities .Corruption Watch said that the abuse of power by principals had been reported consistently.Incidents of sextortion have also been flagged, with job seekers being promised positions and students being awarded marks in exchange for sexual favours.

A dangerous man in KZN Education sector, retired few months ago, refused thousands of resigned qualified and experienced teachers back into the system. Created a lucrative chance for huge bribes from those desperate to come back to work. Left many families broken and starving.

If this happened years ago you would have been fired immediately. We are so slow to respond to these allegation and take action. Set a precedent and apply the law in it strictest form. We as black are so slow but we quick to blame other races.
