Sault Ste. Marie's Alexandra Duncan, 11, recently trained at Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s pre-professional summer dance program in Belleville, Ont.

A local dancer is pursuing her dreams after recently returning from The Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s pre-professional summer dance program in Belleville, Ont.

At Quinte’s summer program, faculty recognized the 11-year-old's skill level and determination, and placed her in a level above her age group, offering her a place in their full-time program at the end of her time there. She has decided to stay in Sault Ste. Marie for the 2022-2023 school year.

This young eleven year old dancer is so driven that for the past two years she supplemented her studio training with on-line master classes through Canada’s Ballet Jorgen, as well as the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. At Quinte’s summer program, their faculty recognized her skill level and determination, and placed her in a level above her age group. After the three week program finished, the school offered Lexie a place in their full-time program starting September 2022. She has decided to stay in Sault Ste. Marie for the 2022-2023 school year.
