to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for certain borrowers, arguing it sends the"wrong message" to Ohioans without a degree who are trying to make ends meet.
Ryan said he's paying off his own family's student loans and believes higher education is too expensive. But he argued the government should prioritize other policies over broad forgiveness, such as tax cuts, medical debt cancellation and targeted forgiveness for essential workers. The Warren Democrat struck a different tone from others in his party who applauded the president's decision, although some progressives say it doesn't go far enough to help Americans with tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
While the statement came from Ryan's congressional office, his comments reflect the moderate tone he's trying to strike in his bid for U.S. Senate. Ryan is running against"Hillbilly Elegy" author J.D. Vance and hopes toVance and other Ohio Republicans blasted the forgiveness plan, saying it would exacerbate current inflation rates and burden taxpayers.
Until Tim Ryan started campaigning this year, he voted with Biden 100% of the time. He also wants the public to believe he will bring industry/jobs to Ohio, he’s a career politician who’s done nothing for the last 20 years. Look how many jobs have left the Mahoning county.
A moderate Democrat!?

I have no degree and I think the loans should be forgiven.
Ryan seems to forget there are plenty of Ohioans suffering under the student loan burden, many of them who are providing vitals services to Ohio citizens. Perhaps instead he should be advocating for free college or other post high school education for Ohioans.
Ryan wants to be seen as a moderate; votes with Biden’s position 100% of the time.
Tim seems to be begging progressives not to vote for him
