Stolen lottery tickets cause school lockout

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — An elementary school in South Florida was placed on a lockout Monday afternoon after deputies said a man stole hundreds of dollars in lottery tickets from a gas station.

The man led police on a short pursuit before crashing his car. He then fled on foot and hid in a wooded area. After two hours of searching, the suspect, Andrew Owen Ekren, 31, of Virginia, was taken into custody just after 4:30 p.m. ET in a subdivision.
