An expert says parents may need to be more open to having conversations with their children about financial issues, while also creatively finding ways to make items last.

What started as a soup kitchen is now also a uniform bank, where more than 2,000 items a month are handed out to families. The items are sourced from schools, parents and local supermarkets."We're giving out at least a couple of thousand items a month at the moment, and I think that's just going to get bigger," said CEO Neil Charlick."It's not just people who are struggling or people on benefits, but people in full-time employment.

"I think it's great when we can have conversations with children about how finances work and what we can and can't afford, and help bring children into the story of looking after things,'' she said.

Or how about we don’t force a uniform it’s not needed and it’s a massive financial drain for low income families

Every parent in the UK Who are struggling with the school uniforms with the cost of living crisis. Don't put their uniform on simple as that. Of you all did it and sent them to school What is the schools going to send all children home? StopSchoolUniformsUK

Challenges of families across the states..

Absolutely, I openly discuss how much everything I have costs with my 15yr old son, he even has access to my bank account to see everything I spend and how much I earn. He’s appreciates everything we have so much more.

Uniforms aren’t that expensive. I got 6 sets of uniforms for two kids for £200. That includes shoes, PE trainers and bags.

White shirt or blouse, black trousers or skirt. No fancy emblems, no weird ties. Keep it cheap and simple whilst still sticking to “uniform” requirements.

Schools need to be more flexible too. Uniform with logos are totally unnecessary and it should be acceptable to replace with generic versions.

I've got twin girls that are about to start secondary school..they HAVE to have logo everything...blazers...polo's..jumpers...pe kit...its cost my 400 quid...its a joke

But I bet they all have new phones, gaming stations big tvs etc but can’t afford school clothes!! Funny that!!

Are you happy now Conservatives !? trussliz & RishiSunak are you going to keep squeezing us until we snap!? I've seen populations snap..never seems to go well for the wealthy..just AskTheFrenchAristocracy The sooner the revolution starts the better!

I cant afford my dogs food and health insure, i hope pet oweners get help too as for some are part our fanilies too.

I wish more US schools had uniforms...still cheaper than trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Believe me. School uniforms are much cheaper ($ & trauma) than the daily competition of contemporary 'smart casual'.
