At 10, Ishaan couldn't speak or write. At 17, he's an award-winning poet

As an advocate for the rights of disabled children, he has exchanged letters with the Prime Minister's Office and Alberta's premier.Family moves to Calgary for special schooling Ishaan Holloway was eight months old in this photo. Ian Holloway described his son as a fun-loving child. I take a lot of pride in my mental math skills, and he would sometimes solve complex problems faster than I could.Gurjot Sekhon, one of Ishaan's tutors, called him the best math student he has ever taught.

In the five years Sekhon spent with Ishaan, they were able to progress from Kindergarten level math to Grade 10. Sekhon said the strategy was to challenge his skills. Using his keyboard, Ishaan told his parents that he was called "stupid" and "good for nothing" at school.

One of mine diagnosis ASD, we were told he may never talk, it's to mine and his mother's belief that programs like these where a huge difference.aker

Please share more details, about the specific therapy used, & the activity finally brought him to speak. Parents of autistic children benefit from learning about the steps another family took to success.

That reminds me, my fave Alanis Morrissette song is about autism. It's 'You Auti Know.' Or, maybe it's 'You OTTER Know,' and is about otters... I'm not sure now. Otters or autism - one or the other!

My 2 month old child copied everything I did until her first vaccine. She never did it again after. :(
