The raises the province is offering education workers in a proposed four-year deal aren't enough to keep up with the cost of living, the union says.

Public health officials in California say an unvaccinated elementary school teacher who took off their mask to read to students ended up infecting more than half of them.

"I think it's unfair," she said. "We in OSSTF, a third of our members are education workers, and they fall in that same kind of earning category." Offering only a 1.25 per cent increase, after raises were capped at one per cent for several years, is "not respectful for the work that's being done," she said.

Please go on strike. The more homeschoolers the better.

Then they should quit their jobs and work for the private sector.

Is anyone surprised by that

Greed

Unless everyone is given a 10% raise if will not match inflation. How about improving work conditions by getting rid of violent, anti -social students. Education workers (not us teachers) truly deserve a raise but reason must prevail.

Show me anyone in the private sector that is getting raises that will keep up with inflation. Btw - did you hire LisaLaFlamme_ back yet?

Join the club.

Don't like the pay? Change employers.

$40,000 for 9 months of work is more than a lot of others make. These education workers are lazy, entitled and greedy.

What about raises for the rest of us

An 11.7% annual bump in pay? I think everyone would love that. Great way to bankrupt Ontario

Gee, do you entitled lot think the private sector is getting wage increases to keep up with the cost of living.

Keep fighting ! Go on strike no one cares about us. We have nothing to lose

Teachers brace for ‘tooth and nail’ fight with province over wages, benefitsOntario’s public high school teachers will need to “fight tooth and nail” in this round of bargaining with the provincial government, says the president of their union. Give them 5%. Done. Let’s get back to school. Education funds should go to parents to allow for private education Why is it the government and the unions turn to the media to air their grievances? Each side is hard done by,and looking out for the best interests of (insert name of 3rd party here). If they put as much energy into negotiating “their” deal it would have been settled.
