The Lagos State Government has directed heads of private schools in the state that the teaching of History as a stand-alone subject has been re-introduced to schools.

“In line with the directive from the Nigerian Education Research and Development Council, the subject has been re-introduced in the national curriculum and in the current Lagos State Unified Schemes of Work for primary and junior secondary schools.

“You are to note that while the subject is compulsory for both primary and junior secondary school classes, it is an elective subject in the senior secondary school. “To this end, I am further directed to inform you that the subject should be taught in primaries one and two and JSS one and two classes in the 2022/2023 academic session.”All rights reserved. That is wise. A nation which does not know history is bound to be lost and be susceptible to repeating same mistakes over and over.

What Good has history done...people do not learn from history that's why the country is the way is this....

Better o! I wonder the useless person that asked them to remove history from the academic curriculum. Awon werey

Nice move. It's very unfortunate that some people don't see the need for history in our society. Without history, we can't determine your future.

God Bless you They should teach them how Ojukwu played a very dirty Politics not hailing him They should teach them how Thiefnubu Atiku and Co stole Nigeria wealth They should teach them how Thiefnunu became the Lagos Landlord They should teach them how Olodo Buhari is a failure

But what kind of history will they teach?.... or the lies being passed from one generation to the next filled with inaccuracies will continue to be propagated

Every country supposed be teaching history in their schools this is not supposed to be a big deal,,a failed state 👎🏾

kanmidaniels Spot on!!! So one no idiot will come from one a place of ethnic bigotry to rewrite history for us

Any history class in Lagos or entire Yorubaland without the role of Igbo-IPOB attempted carnage on our homeland during Endsars with video evidence will unacceptable.

Lmaooo don’t forget to teach them who killed funsho Williams

The history of Mongo Park discovered River Niger should be removed from histroy. Our people don de drink River Niger before Mongo Park came

The history that Mongo Park discovered River Niger should be removed from histroy. Our people don de drink River Niger before Mongo Park came.

PublicSquareNG Decision in the right direction. ThankYouLagos

Welcomed development

MrOdanz One thing is, these criminal politicians still go around looking for ways where actual facts that is somehow pointing at them not to be published or approved for schools

Thanks my governor.

What you guys did on Oct 20, 2020 should be added to the history books.

Great. A very clueless government came to remove it forgotten that even Google has more information of our history than what we read in Newspaper.

Good move. Sir. This should part of the lesson in one of the class module

They want to alter the minds of young people again ni

Best step yet...

God bless you... Ahaha.. Thank God..

Good. Let real history be taught so people can know the so called heroes are actually the villains.

Bravo to Lagos state and their recent move to look back from where they come from ...history

Was history ever out of the school curriculum? History had been taught for a d taken in both WAEC and NECO exams the past years

Hopefully my gov RotimiAkeredolu follow suit

I hope the true history of lagos would be thought. Remember to tech the original owners of Lagos or ask the OBA OF LAGOS for further information it will help. NIGERIAN need history it will help but not history of favoured region. Puting region against region. But history to heal

Introduce STEM, coding, foreign languages like mandarin in secondary schools . They are not going to use history to compete in the world . jidesanwoolu drobafemihamzat

If History is reintroduced in2 d pry/JSS curricular,& becomes optional d SSS level, then,d new step 'll make no difference.Making it compulsory up 2 d SSS level is d panacea 2 reviving d subject meaningfully,if there'll be d political will 2 go d whole hog!Things are bad enough!

Because someone in Anambra state took the first courage to do so.. Nigeria politicians can never stop copy copy. Bearley 0ne week that soludo reintroduced history in school, copy copy Lagos governor has followed put. We are waiting for others.

Way to go 👍

What did I hear about this Lagos state government allowing okada again ahead of election Just because of politics and elections. Sanwolu chai. PeterObi4President2023 Obidatti023 PeterObiForPresident2023

Very good

History of who and what? Needs specificity. Nigeria Africa

Which yeye history

Long over due. Note for “those” that removed it in the first place; “History never forgets.” D selfish n crooked intention behind its senseless removal from school curriculum will soon b made public

They only teach white man history ,why not teach African history’s,maybe the YouTuber history for people to know who they truly are ,but you all keep learning white man history when they don’t want to learn anything about African

Let's see the kind of History subject curriculum, they what to present to our children. Alot of questions it's on table to ask.

Better

I hope the re introduced history in Lagos schools will not be that of Tinubu, built a house, bought a car, gave kidney, talent ,money ,air, life, all the roads and bridges for Igbo people and other tribes in Lagos state.well done o.

Please...correct history

Thus is a land mark achievement congratulations Mr Governor 💪

That is a welcome development

So as for our children to know that there was once a better Nigeria and believe in ur lies that e go soon better.

That's a good one.

Good one but Soludo did it first

Nice...✌️Other states should follow let's know who's driving this Bus🚌 called Nigeria

Instead of upgrading to Coding and other tech related Packages You are here re-introducing History... Y'all are a Joke

Cheering news!!

Anambra had introduced it earlier . However, You introduced history in schools when someone who is part of history is running for presidency. Isn’t that hypocrisy? jidesanwoolu

Good..Weldone jidesanwoolu ...I salute you

Anambra leads

God is working after Anambra ie something is cooking

Thank you Mr Governor Sir. Our youth need it to help them have a better understanding and appreciation of our past and its importance to our present and future.

trolls_queen Well done my governor. I guess this is affecting us negatively as everyone has lost the sense of history in our daily lives...

This is a good news

The best policy in the right direction.

Yeah! The history they want our kids to know. Diluted history 😂

I recommend Evans Publishers' Modular History for Primary and their Effective History for JSS Those books are rich

Good job

I don’t want to see that mongo park bullshit inside oo

That's great development, it has started in Kwara two years back and by next year junior secondary stds will write it in BECE exam

Lagos lead the way,others follow

I hope history will teach us about Bobo Chicago and also the primary election that made Sanwo-Olu APC candidate. We need history to tell us about how one man has turned Lagos state to his own property.

Good to hear

History with a lot of embedded stories that are not true. Naming those who stole our country's money 💵 heroes or nationalists.

Thank God say i dun finish
