School buses will not transport students to or from Hutchison High this year.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Students attending Hutchison High School are looking at a slight extension to their summer vacation.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District announced on Friday, August 5, the start date for students attending Hutchison High School for the 2022-2023 school year has been delayed.Presently, there is no electricity at the school. The cause is from damage to the school’s power breaker which occurred during the recent wind storm. According to FNSBSD, “the school will be out of service until the breaker is rebuilt and reinstalled.

Due to a shortage of bus drivers and because Hutchison High School is a school of choice, the FNSBSD also announced there will be no bus service to or from Hutchison and families are responsible for transportation to and from the school. “If families are not able to provide transportation to Hutchison High, students will need to enroll in their neighborhood high school.” said FNSBSD.
