“It is critical for students to show up on the first day of school and every day after that. However, it has become more of a problem, especially since the pandemic, where many students don’t show up on the first day of school and may not show up until the second or third week, or later. The more absences, the harder it is for these students to catch up academically,” a spokeswoman said.
Here’s a list of each district and their starting date, as published by the state Department of Education and compiled by AL.com. If you can’t see the table, view them online,Some start dates were initially incorrect on the state department’s website. Our table has been updated.
