More than 150,000 native children in Canada were forced to attend state-funded Christian schools from the 19th century until the 1970s in an effort to isolate them from the influence of their homes and culture. Those Bad things that happened in that school was outweighed by the good. Many of those kids went into American and Canadian society and were successful. There isn't a drop of American or Canadian blood that doesn't have Indian blood in it. They assimilated. Ask Lizzy Warren.
