Arizona's expanded school voucher program is the largest in the U.S., but it shares less data than programs in other states.

shares the demographics of students, the ward they reside in, and the percentage of participating families that receive food payment supports.

Sen. Christine Marsh, a public school teacher in Scottsdale, one of the most vocal critics of the expansion, said the expansion, without new accountability measures, amounts to funding a second education system when many people in schools believe they are barely getting enough money to sustain the first.

“My children are able to fidget, take breaks and know how to advocate for their needs in their educational setting… without being reprimanded,” which was not their experience in a public district, Emanuel said. The Goldwater Institute, the conservative think tank that first drafted the ESA program, said they also consider parents as providing necessary accountability.

The news here is that this is a concerted effort by “conservative” governors and state legislatures to defund and destroy public education, by the vilest of means, and it must be stopped. Our future depends on it.
