The terrorists invaded the school premises on July 5, 2021, and abducted the pupils and a matron but released them in batches after several days in captivity.The last release of the pupils was on December 28, 2021, and January 1, 2022.Speaking with our correspondent, the Vice President and Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria , Rev Joseph Hayab, said efforts, including several ransoms paid, to secure the boy’s release from his captors had yielded no result.
“The school proprietors, management and parents went through different trauma before 120 of those kidnapped were released. Some of these children spent weeks and days in many hospitals in Kaduna and some outside Kaduna receiving treatment for different illnesses and wounds they had in the bush. Today, we have one pupil still with the bandits. We have made several attempts to get him released but the bandits only collected money from us and even kidnapped those we sent with the ransom.
The Kaduna CAN chairman added that academic activities had since resumed for the freed children in a safer location, stating that some of the abducted pupils who missed external exams had taken the exams. Hayab said, “We have since resumed academic activities with those that have been freed in a safe place in Kaduna. Some of the final-year students wrote external GCE in November last year and those who did not or were not stable to write had taken this year’s SSCE exams hoping to take the NECO exams after the Sallah break.”All rights reserved.
