Parents and the headteacher of a secondary school in Bamber Bridge have accused inspectors of 'getting it wrong' after they reported pupils are being 'hindered' and 'struggle to read'.

"Some teachers are using this training to select the most appropriate activities to deliver new learning. This is not true across the board, however. Mr Harris said he 'strongly disagrees' with Ofsted's findings and he told LancsLive he appealed the rating but the process is 'effectively a case of Ofsted marking their own homework'. He said that although the school has a high proportion of children with special educational needs it is also 'truly comprehensive' with some pupils going on to gain places at Oxford and Cambridge.

LancsLive also spoke to the mum of two pupils at Walton-le-Dale, in Year 7 and Year 10, who said parents are 'fully behind' Mr Harris and the staff. The mum, who asked not to be named, described Ofsted's rating and findings as 'unjust'.
