NSW public schools will begin a “four week blitz” to stem the spread of COVID-19 when students return from holidays on Tuesday, with more than 9 million rapid antigen test kits to be distributed.
The department said students at affected schools could also be directed to work from home for short periods if required. The new measures come as most unvaccinated teachers and staff, except those working with high-risk students, were allowed to return to work from Monday.A number of private schools are also strongly encouraging the use of masks, with at least one continuing to enforce a mandate.
Barker College head Phillip Heath said staff would be asked to undertake a RAT before attending school each Monday in the first few weeks of Term 3. Last week, NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said there had been a 30 per cent increase in sick days taken by teachers and staff this year, which was directly related to COVID and flu.
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll 0-19 isn't the highest spreading group. parents aren't given tests or asked to mask. Government trying useless crap with kids in a desperate effort to be seen as doing something
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll Least at risk.
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll might be a good idea to extend the isolation time
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll They’ll sit well in the cupboard next to the tests I didn’t do the first time around 😂
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll 9 million tests, so what.. 1 box of 5 per student? So 1 test a week for each student? And that’s a “blitz” Bwahahahahahahaha 😂🤣😂🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll They are NOT public schools in that photo, Bevan. They are private school girls. Get a grip. BevanShields
daniellamariewh lucy_carroll Good, test kids that are hardly sick. That’ll solve all issues, best put them in muzzles and hazmat suits too. Can never be too careful, what’s their learning and development matter anyways?
