Students from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary are asking the province to step in and implement a cap on tuition fees for international students.

No they’re not, a fringe minority group of international students are. I’m not paying for international students to come & study here, thousands of Canadians are denied entry to schools, they come first. I’m not subsidizing international students, no more than others for Canadian

You're trying to ask Alberta residents to subsidize tuition for foreign students. Of course it's a stupid idea.
Rather than implementing caps, it would be better to have a stringent system in place that all higher education schools/Universities must show their full costs and evidence they have tried all possible means to reduce costs and educational fees FOR ALL before ANY fee increase.

Int’l students pay higher tuition because their parents haven’t paid taxes in Canada therefore they aren’t entitled to taxpayer subsidized tuition. In what universe should Canadian taxpayers foot the bill to educate foreign students, many of whom will ultimately leave Canada?
When you apply for a visa to study abroad,you must first explain how you will pay the tuition, cost of living and health insurance, and before you are granted a visa,one must submit a financial statement showing how much money you have, if you don't, no visa issued!

Its great that international students want to come to canada to study, but why should canadian tax payers subsidize students tuition who have not lived here, do not and have not paid taxes here and may not stay in canada after and pay back into the tax system.

It’s a money maker for the universities to the detriment of Canadians who lose seats to those who can pay! I’m all for making foreign students tuition so friggin expensive, we have to go back to educating our own!
