Edward Waters University is full speed ahead on its move into NCAA Division II.

On Thursday, the school received the green light from the NCAA Division II Membership Committee to enter into the second of its three-year transitional period as it completes its move from the NAIA.

Completing the first year affords the Tigers some big opportunities, including the chance to complete as a full member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. EWU will be able to compete for league championships, weekly awards and all-conference honors. The SIAC sponsors 14 sports.The school, the state’s first historically Black college,
