Auditor issues demand letters to former Holmes County school officials

by Julia James, Mississippi Today July 14, 2022   The school district was taken over by the Mississippi Department of Education in August 2021 following a nearly 400-page audit that found the district in violation of 81% of accreditation standards. The allegations included a dysfunctional school board and administration, improper spending, inaccurate record keeping and unlicensed teachers in the classroom.

How did $50k in questioned costs turn into $200k in demand letters? ($4200 party; $20k salary overpayment; $14k questioned vendor payments; $12k in unauthorized credit card charges)

So Shad White is all over this 200k for several folks in Holmes who are likely Black but Congressman Thompson has to get the DOJ to investigate the biggest embezzlement of taxpayer money in state history? 74 Million seems way more significant than 200k.
