Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys has announced that the back-to-school clothing and footwear allowance will be increased by €100 per child from next week rather than next month

Minister Humphreys says 151,000 families will benefit from this years €84 million scheme which was announced last week.

Payments of the regular allowance start today but, in a new development, payment into bank accounts of the additional €100 has been brought forward from August to next Monday.

amazing what the ministers can turn it around when it suits them. They are very very slow to support people to improve their struggling situations but are very quick to pay big pay rises to all the lads without a blink of an eye stating legal reasons without actually explaining.

Here we go again funds thrown like it was monopoly and of course only for those who already get whichever else countless assistance. When people gets it completely wrong that assistance is not a Right but a Favor done to you. It'll be all spent on expensive material crap. Wasted

More money for people who irresponsibly have children without the means to support them. Why are parents being rewarded for popping out kids when Irelands population is too full already?

Buying your votes with your own money. Money that if they didn't take and waste you'd be better off. The globalist regime is a parasite leeching the lifeblood for the Irish people.

The squeezing of the middle class continues by the establishment for the expansion of the welfare state.

Good news for Ireland's working poor - keep working and paying for financial benefits for those who don't.

A friend informed me that the much lauded school bus fees waiver only applies to bus eireann routes. Her kids take private buses as there is no BE option. Apparently this is the norm for a large proportion of the country.

The money is there when the pressure is on Our money

While this is commendable it is for the usual select few. It should be made available to all those who are finding it difficult in this cost of living crisis.

Whether it's next week or next month you can be sure people who work for a living won't see any of it.

While the rest of us middle earnings workers get out to start another expensive week on fuel, childcare and stress the layabouts and social hour workers are chilling watching the money roll in then buy a €10 uniform in Aldi, Ireland is all wrong

Isn’t this a populist move that fffg would describe sf as

Not resolving to 'pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally' but only some, in D4 etc. The rest get a pre-election pittance of €100 to help shore up the votes for fiannafailparty FineGael

Middle income families left to rot yet again. What's the point in even working in this Country?

Where did they find the money? The magic money tree perhaps? Down the back of the sofa?

School books alone can cost several hundred euro, they should be free.

Very good initiative

Is that to pay for the school bag

And those of us working, barely getting by, who don’t qualify - ah yes nothing again 👏

Ah good stuff! A 100 quid definitely takes the pressure off. 🙄

Is there an election looming? Oh yeah, today's the no confidence motion, innit?

Ah the back benchers etc starting to feel important with confidence motion looming what else will be thrown out to buy the rebels

Yippee that's everything sorted

These costs don’t of course exist for workers over the ‘threshold’

How much is it per child currently ?

Great opposition by SF 👍🏻

Under pressure from tbe opposition.
